Conservatives call on Liberals to announce date of fighter jet purchase
December 3, 2021
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Ottawa, ON – Pierre Paul-Hus, Conservative Shadow Minister for Public Services and Procurement, and the Hon. Kerry-Lynne Findlay, Conservative Shadow Minister for National Defence, issued the following statement calling on the Liberals to announce a date for the selection of Canada’s next fighter jet.
“Justin Trudeau has needlessly delayed the selection of new fighter jets, and in the process, wasted hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars on used jets for our Air Force. Now, the Trudeau Liberals are refusing to confirm if their already delayed timetable will be met.
“The reality is that Justin Trudeau has failed to provide our military with the equipment it needs to protect Canada at home and abroad. He has wasted time and taxpayers’ dollars in an attempt to keep political promises that do nothing to keep Canadians safer and help our troops do the job we ask of them.
“It’s time for Justin Trudeau to end the delays. Canada’s Conservatives are calling on Justin Trudeau to immediately announce a date for when Canada’s new fighter jets will be selected.
“Canada’s Conservatives are the only party that will stand up for our men and women in uniform and ensure that they have the necessary equipment to protect our country.”
