Liberals must immediately fix failed vaccine communications
May 4, 2021, Ottawa, ON – The Hon. Michelle Rempel Garner, Conservative Shadow Minister for Health, and Pierre Paul-Hus, Conservative Shadow Minister for Public Services and Procurement, issued the following statement calling on the Liberal government to immediately fix their failed communications on vaccines:
“Yesterday, the Liberal government continued their trend of sending Canadians mixed messages on vaccine use.
“At a press conference, the National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI) recommended using Johnson & Johnson’s COVID-19 vaccine on adults 30-years and older, ‘if the individual does not wish to wait for an mRNA vaccine and if the benefits outweigh the risk for the individual.’ The Health Minister also suggested that people should talk to their doctor about what vaccine to take.
“What Canadians need is clear, concise, and constant communications when it comes to vaccine use. Conservatives have been calling for this for weeks. The buck stops with the Health Minister. She must immediately fix this problem of her creation. Lives are at stake.
“Canada’s Conservatives will continue to hold the Liberal government accountable for their failed vaccine communications and call on them do better.”
